Obituary for F. Douglas "Doug" Novotny

F. Douglas "Doug" Novotny
ALBANY F. Douglas Novotny, Esq. of Albany, NY, passed away after a long illness on Sunday morning, October 23, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. He was 64.

Douglas was born in Mineola, NY on March 10, 1952. He graduated from MacArthur High School in Wantagh, NY then earned a BA from SUNY Albany in 1974. He was a stellar law student at Albany Law School, graduating at the top of his class in 1979. He was a member of the Albany Law Review and the Justinian Society. After he was awarded his Juris Doctorate, he clerked for the Appellate Division before embarking on a legal career as a litigator. He was a partner at Wilson, Elser law firm for many years. He loved to play his guitar and explore the countryside. He found great peace in walking the trails of the Helderburgs, Peebles Island and the many other natural areas of the region.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Eleanor Novotny; his wife, Norma Novotny and their children, Nicholas and Christina; and his son Alexander Novotny by his first wife, Susan Novotny.

The family has requested a private service.
