Obituary for Michael R. Shaver

TROY Michael R. Shaver, 59, of River St. died suddenly Saturday March 4, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital after being stricken at his residence. Born in Troy he is son of Ann T. Bleau Mara of Watervliet and the late Richard T. Shaver. He was a graduate of Brittonkill High School, Class of 1975.

Michael resided in Georgia and South Carolina for much of his adult life and returned to the Troy area 8 years ago. He had worked as a chef in several area health care facilities. He was a veteran of the US Army where he was a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist. A family man, he enjoyed time spent with his family.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his sons, Richard Shaver of South Carolina and David Shaver (Tori) of Georgia. He is the devoted companion of Kim Holloway and brother of Deborah Pompey (late: Melvin), Doris Shaver of Colonie, Diana Mazone (Roger) of Kingston, Nancy Hildreth of Ghent, Charles Shaver (JoAnn) of Schenectady and Sandra Ross (William) of Ft. Edward. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford, NY. Interment with Military Honors will be at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
