ALBANY Paul J. Baker, 58, of Hansen Ave. died Saturday March 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Troy he was son of Amy Kane Baker of Waterford and the late Donald R. Baker. He was a 1976 graduate of the former Keveny Memorial Academy and was a member of the basketball team there. In his younger years he carried the nickname “Dragoon”.
Paul had been employed at United Rentals in Clifton Park and retired due to disability in 2008. Prior to that he worked at BFI in Colonie, and GBI Corp in Albany. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Northeastern Subcontractors Association. He enjoyed writing poetry and drawing as well as fishing and in his youth played CYO football. He was the “life of the party” and was an upbeat and positive person who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his loving wife Kyung “ChaCha” Miller Baker and his devoted son Matthew P. Baker of Albany. He is the brother of Donald R. Baker (Diane) and Theresa (Terri) Baker of Waterford and Mary C. Potter (Robert) of Clifton Park. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford With Rev. J. Patrick Butler officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
