CROPSEYVILLE James F. Remington, 79, of Old Road died Tuesday, Mar. 21, 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late James and Mary Bradshaw Remington.
Jim was a 1959 graduate of Waterford High School. He worked most of his life for the Ford Motor Co. in Green Island and was the 1966 UAW “Man of the Year.” After retiring he went on to work for Berlin Central Schools and Dynasty Chemical in Albany. In his earlier years he had been a Waterford Police Officer, belonged to J.W. Ford Hose Co., was a NYS Fire Warden, and he co-founded the Waterford Youth Council. More recently he served as Grafton Town Building Inspector.
Jim was the loving husband of Bernadette LaPlante Remington who passed in 2011. He is the father of Eric Remington of Preston Hollow, Wilfred J. Remington (Melanie) of Clinton, CT, Alicia J. Remington of Troy, Brock J. Remington (Megan) of West Sand Lake and Corey J. Remington of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Grafton. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7 p.m.
