Obituary for Richard VanBuskirk Sr.

Richard VanBuskirk Sr.
BALLSTON LAKE Richard “Dick” VanBuskirk Sr., 76, of Rovanten Park and formerly of Waterford passed away peacefully Sunday April 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ he was the son of the late Harry VanBuskirk and Virginia Porter DeSorbo. He was raised in Green Island and was a 1957 graduate of Heatley High School.

Dick had been employed for over 33 years as a truck driver for the former Grand Union Co. in Waterford and retired in 1995. He was a member and former trustee of the International Brotherhood of Truckers Union. He was a sports enthusiast, but enjoyed most the time he spent with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Mildred Trethaway VanBuskirk, his devoted children, Paul E. VanBuskirk of Ballston Spa, Virginia M. Bariteau (Ernie) of Waterford, Evelyn M. DelBrocco (Michael) of Rotterdam, Richard E. VanBuskirk Jr. of Malta and Nadine M. VanBuskirk (David Ahern) of Saratoga Springs as well as his brothers Raymond VanBuskirk (Celia) of Cambridge and Philip VanBuskirk (Judy) of Falmouth, MA. Ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford.

Relatives and friends and may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
