Obituary for Ruth Westervelt (Winchip)

Ruth  Westervelt (Winchip)
WATERFORD Ruth L. Westervelt, 66, of John St. died Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillian R. Maddison Winchip. She had resided in Feura Bush for a number of years before moving to Waterford in 1991.

Ruth had been employed at Folmsbee Transportation in Waterford until 2015. Prior to that she was employed at Computer Sciences Corp in East Greenbush, Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Dan’s Moving and Storage and F. W. Woolworth’s in Delmar. She was an active member of the United Church of Cohoes, was a member of the Waterford Seniors and was an avid BINGO player.

Survivors include her loving children Fern Fletcher (Robert) of Feura Bush, Stanley Westervelt (Karen) of Cohoes and Tammy Marie Cramer (Gary Griffin) of Watervliet. She is the sister of Richard Winchip (Gerelyn) of California and Walter Winchip of Waterford. She is the proud grandmother of Stanley, Katelynn and Ashleigh Westervelt, Megan and Jeffrey Cramer, Robert Fletcher and the late Matthew Westervelt and great grandmother of Makaleigh, Giovanni and Mateo. Also surviving is her canine companion Rusty and feline companion Precious.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at noon at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte. 32), Waterford with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service from 10 am till noon. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk St., Cohoes, NY 12047.
