Obituary for Marilyn "Beth" Mattey (Arroyo)

Marilyn "Beth" Mattey (Arroyo)
TROY Marilyn “Beth” Arroyo Mattey, 54, of Massachusetts Ave. lost her long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy she is the daughter of Victor Arroyo of Mechanicville and the late Marilyn Dillon Arroyo. She is a 1981 graduate of Lansingburgh High School.

Beth had been employed for 16 years at Capital Eye Care in Troy and retired last year due to disability. Prior to that she and her husband operated Lansingburgh Café. She also worked at Garden Way, Burger King and Dan Jo Matteys.

Beth’s passion was cooking and baking. She enjoyed going to garage sales and Black Friday shopping but most important was the time she spent with her grandson.

In addition to her father she is survived by her loving husband Paul Mattey Sr. and her devoted son Paul Mattey Jr. She was the proud grandmother of Caleb Mattey whom she adored. She is the sister of Darlene Julian (Tom) of Watervliet, Linda McMahon (Dan) of Troy, Nancy Jackman (Tod) of Delanson and Tara Isopo (Anthony) of Troy. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her canine companion, Scrapper.

Funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte.32), Waterford and at 9:30 at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 pm.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Night Out For You, PO Box 1341, Latham, NY 12210.

Special thanks are extended to the Emergency Room and ICU staff at Samaritan Hospital.
