CLIFTON PARK Gerald J. Brophy, 77, of Hilltop Manor died Friday April 27, 2018 at Saratoga Center for Rehab in Ballston Spa. Born and educated in New Britain, CT he was the son of the late John G. and Elsie Miller Brophy. He moved to this area in 1978.
Jerry had been employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. for 38 years and retired in 1993. He had served as organist at several area churches. He was a drummer and played with the “Swing Docs” and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Waterford Council 237.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Justine A. Scamoni Brophy, his children, Maureen Ann Passaro of South Cairo, Robert Michael Brophy of Malta, Michael Thomas Brophy of Clifton Park and Susan Margaret Brophy of Malta. He is the brother of Marie Logie of Victoria, British Columbia, John Peter Brophy of Southington, CT, Catherine Oliver of Glastonbury, CT and the late Terrence and Richard Brophy. Jerry is the proud grandfather of Matthew and Christopher Passaro. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, Crescent.
Relatives and friends may visit with Jerry’s family at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford on Friday from 9 – 10:30 am prior to the Mass.
