Obituary for Anne Rose Cerqua

Anne Rose  Cerqua
TROY Anne Rose Cerqua, 89, of Country Way and a long time Waterford resident died Saturday January 6, 2018 at Schuyler Ridge Health Care Center. Born in Waterford she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Fusco Cerqua. She was a 1945 graduate of Waterford High School and a 1946 graduate of Milldred Elly College for Careers.

Anne had been employed as a secretary for the Veterans Administration Hospital Personnel Division and the Watervliet Arsenal Procurement Directorate. Prior to that she had worked at Universal Film Exchange and GE. Her last 11 years of employment was at Highgate Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Troy, retiring in January 1997.

She was a very active and lifelong communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. She had served as secretary to the Pro-Life Group, served as a Lector, organized and led a Care Giver’s Group, was a member of the Legion of Mary and was active in St. Mary’s Prayer Groups.

She is the sister of Patrick Cerqua (Lisa) of Oceanside, CA, Frances Hill (Edwin) of San Angelo, TX, the late Theresa Rosamilia and William Cerqua. She is the sister in law of Joseph Rosamilia and Ruth Breen. Several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive.

Funeral from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte.32), Waterford Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. and at noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 11:30 am.

Special thanks for their loving care are extended to the staff from Community Hospice and the care givers at Schuyler Ridge.
