Obituary for Louis R. Savery

WATERFORD Louis R. Savery, 88, of Middletown Rd. died Monday December 10, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Martin Savery.

Lou had been employed for 35 years at the Ford Motor Co. in Green Island and retired in 1985. In his retirement he consulted for the Ford Motor Co. and was involved in the construction of their facility in Mexico. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was a communicant of Grace Church in Waterford, was a member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon for 57 years and a member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks.

Lou was a handyman who could build or fix anything. He loved his family and America, enjoyed following politics and the stock market and was also an antique car enthusiast.

He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy Savery who died in 2008. He was the loving father of Linda E. Marks (Douglas) of Tuscon, AZ, Timothy L. Savery (Courtney) of Schaghticoke and Dawn M. Lange (Timothy) of Waterford. He was the proud grandfather of Jessica Willcox (Jeff), Jeffrey Coseo (Lara), Matthew Berthiaume and Jacob Savery and great grandfather of Shaylin and Tyler Willcox. He is also survived by his canine buddy Gizmo.
